DYNAMOS missed an opportunity to strengthen their grip on third place after being held to a 1-1 draw by relegation-threatened Triangle United at Gibbo Stadium today.

The result leaves Dynamos two points clear of fourth-placed Ngezi Platinum Stars, who have a chance to close the gap when they face Highlanders at Baobab Stadium tomorrow.

Dynamos started brightly and took the lead in the 28th minute when defender Isaac Landu rose highest to head home an Abel Gwatidzo corner.

The visitors carried their advantage into the break but Triangle came out stronger after the restart as they searched for a way back into the encounter.

Their pressure paid off in the 60th minute when referee Brighton Chimene awarded the hosts a penalty after Dynamos goalkeeper Nfor Idrissou brought down Emmanuel Paga inside the box.

Joel Munsaka stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to bring the Sugar Boys level.

Neither side could find a winner in the closing stages as the two sides shared the points at Gibbo.

For Dynamos the draw keeps them in third place but gives Ngezi an opportunity to reduce the gap and possibly overtake them if they win against Highlanders.

Triangle United remain deep in the relegation battle and now find themselves six points adrift of safety with the season entering its crucial stages.
