Dynamos hire shrinks to help players

THE Dynamos hierarchy believe the problems affecting their club are not technical and have more to do with players’ mentality.
And they have sought to outsource more  psychologists to help them address the challenge as the Glamour Boys still believe
they can mount a late challenge to the championship. DeMbare will also be representing the country in the CAF Confederation Cup that
kicks-off next month. But the team hasn’t been stepping upto the party this season, winning only five games in 18 matches.
They are currently eighth on the log with 24 points to their name, 12 behind leaders FC Platinum.
They have been too average for a team of their stature and their faithful are no longer as optimistic as they were at the beginning
of the season. Rather than blaming coachGenesis Mangombe and his players for their flat showing in most of the games they have played, club chiefs say the problem could be psychological. While the Glamour Boys have, here and there, hired mental therapists, they are seeking to get more regularly, as frequently as every day to deal with the situation.Dynamos executive chairman MosesMaunganidze yesterday said the team will start bringing psychologists and other specialists to the training sessions starting
next week. “Look, on paper, we have one of the most talented teams in the country. We have very good youngsters and we never lack experience too. But if you look at the way we carry ourselves, the body language, the mentality, and the attitude, you will realise that the problem could be mental,” said Maunganidze.
“It is our duty as a club to also chip in and help out the technical team by hiring some specialist services which we do not have
on the bench. “It is against this background that we have decided to bring psychologists to the training ground daily. They will be talking to the players before, during, and after training. “We need to address the mentality issue in our players. We have talked to the coach and he also says the biggest problem at the team right now is psychological not anything else. “As Dynamos, we think the players who are on the team should be at the top in terms of their mentality but it’s not the case right now. So we will outsource more
specialists to come and help us solve the problem.
“We have the league title to take care of and the CAF Confederation Cup as well. So we need everyone to have a strong mentality.” Maunganidze said the team will also be hiring more experts from different fields to help out the team as they bid to get the players into their best possible shapes.
“We are not looking only into the mental aspect of the game. We will also be hiring a nutritionist who will be working with us on
a part-time basis. “We also need some education on doping. We have a good coach and a good squad but we also feel we need to support them by putting the right systems into place because football is no longer just about getting out there, training, training and playing.
“There are a lot more aspects that are incorporated and as Dynamos, we are working very hard to make sure we come
to a situation where we have all those in place,” he said.
“We believe football is scientific and as such, we need to also add more performance analysts to our bench. We are also in
the process of identifying set-piece coaches.”
