has been battling injury for nearly two months now and the team’s assistant coach Tonderai Ndiraya yesterday said the midfielder, and leftback Ocean Mushure, will not be available for selection this week.
Dynamos had a number of injuries before the break and while many of the players are now up and running it now appears it may take a bit longer for Makopa to overcome a hamstring injury.
Mushure faces a similar battle with a back injury.
DeMbare will return to action exactly four weeks after they played their last game, which ended in a 0-0 draw against Motor Action at the same venue.
“Before the break we complained about fatigue but now we managed to get enough rest. The break also gave some of our players who were injured enough time to heal and we now have them back in training,” said Ndiraya.
“We are happy that most of our players who were injured have now recovered. Murape Murape (ankle), Rodreck Mutuma (ankle), Denver Mukamba (knee) and Tichaona Mabvura (back) are all back in full training.
“There are only two guys left on the casualty list, which means we have about 24 players who can play on Wednesday. So we are not worrying much about that.
“Otherwise, we are prepared for the match. We don’t take Harare City lightly because we have watched them play and I must admit they are a very good side.
“We just hope that the break will not disturb our rhythm as we want to carry on from where we left off.”
DeMbare, who suffered a setback after their victory over Hwange was nullified by the PSL Disciplinary Committee, have slumped to ninth place in the log table, albeit with three games in hand. They have 14 points from seven outings, while Highlanders lead the race with 23 points.
“Obviously we feel some pressure because we would want, as much as we can, to be at par with others. But we don’t arrange the fixtures. It’s a situation we find ourselves in and we have to deal with it accordingly. What we need is to collect maximum points in every game that we play without looking at what other rival teams are doing,” he said.
Harare City are 12th with eight points. Bigboy Mawiwi’s men have won only one game in 10 starts and the Sunshine Boys coach yesterday said they are eager for a change of fortunes.
Dynamos travel to meet Gunners on Sunday while the highlight of the weekend could be the match between leaders Highlanders and former champions Motor Action at Rufaro on Saturday.
Resurgent Harare giants CAPS United will host surprise packages Buffaloes at the National Sports Stadium on Saturday.
