AS the 2014 Caf Champions League season continues, the Callisto Pasuwa-led technical team faced some challenges at training this afternoon at their training ground at Zimphos when players attempted to engage in an industrial action over unpaid allowances.
Going into the new week, the Dynamos executive, held a meeting with the entire team, which is currently led by captain Murape Murape, earlier today (yesterday).
The executive told the team of the plans underway to secure their unpaid allowances. Progress was made as the proposed strike suffered a miscarriage after an agreement was arrived at between the players and the executive.
The expectation and resolution of the dispute is that the players’ allowances will be deposited into their accounts as soon as they return from the second leg of the first round in the on-going Caf Champions League.
Chairman Kenny Mubaiwa spoke passionately about the lack of sponsorship for the defending champions saying his executive will do its best to ensure that the club progresses despite the financial challenges.
“I would, however, want to assure the players that the executive will make their allowances available to them as soon as they return from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
“As things stand, we will pay them in full for one game before they travel to the DRC, latest tomorrow (today) morning. “I am a man of my word and the youngsters are aware of this fact. However, we are still dealing with issues of getting to the DRC so we can progress to the next stage of the competition, remember we haven’t done so well in the recent past, so we are determined to do better this time around.” The club remains in discussion with potential sponsors, the chairman took a bold step in actually providing players with a guarantee that something good will come out of the on-going negotiations.
“We are engaged in talks with targeted corporates who have shown the will to be associated with the club.
“The country’s economy is currently not in a good standing but l can guarantee you that someone will partner with us, l mean DeMbare is a fabulous brand that can foster great partnerships,” he added
Our position therefore, which we have communicated to the players, is that we remain committed to paying their allowances on time, at all times, and make sure that the club achieves its targeted goals.
