DYNAMOS chairman Kenny Mubaiwa says the club’s leadership will not be held hostage by players who are not using proper channels to raise their grievances as the stand-off at the club entered its second day yesterday.
The Glamour Boys have been boycotting training since they returned from a sensational 1-0 victory over Highlanders at Barbourfields on Saturday.
Yesterday, the players turned up at Zimphos Grounds in Msasa but refused to train, insisting that the executive should come and address their issues over outstanding payments.
It is understood that the players want their executive to review their bonuses for a draw after the incentives for a win were also increased.
“It’s only logical that the incentives are all increased,” said the players.
“There are players who have been at the club for a long time but their signing-on fees have not been paid in full.
“There is a feeling that the club is giving priority to new players at the expense of old horses.”
It is alleged that the Dynamos executive appeared keen to service the debts on new players Masimba Mambare, Walter Mukanga, Anesu Gondo, Ronald Chitiyo and Tafadzwa Rusike yet some players who were retained from last season had not received the same treatment.
“I am surprised to hear that the players are boycotting training. We were together celebrating the victory over Highlanders on Saturday and no one told me of any issues that needed our attention,” said Mubaiwa
“It was only when we returned to Harare that I was told the players refused to train and needed to be addressed.
“At the moment I do not know their reasons for striking and, maybe, you could ask them. As the chairman I heard that there are not training and want to be addressed.
“But we always say if there is a problem, there are channels to follow. They could have easily told me on Saturday
“Some of the players lose the focus and momentum the moment we beat Caps United and Highlanders. They feel they have achieved success and can hold the club to ransom but we have to remain focused.”
Mubaiwa is expected to meet the players today.
