Dynamos target foreigners

Dynamos are linked with Namibian 31-year-old striker Sadney Urikhob and Malawi’s 26-year-old striker Hassan Kajoke.

The two are expected to give the Glamour Boys the experience and depth ahead of the upcoming season.

Last season Dynamos strikers struggled to find the back of the net with teenager Elton Chikona topping the club’s charts with just five goals.

The club is set to release a number of its strikers after failing to impress in the just-ended season.

Dynamos vice chairman Vincent Chawonza confirmed the club’s attempt to lure some foreign nationals to bolster their squad.

“We believe that these two can give us the edge ahead of the African Safari challenge. We are still waiting for the draw to see who will be playing against.

“Sadney was once with Young Africans in Tanzania and we believe his experience is crucial for our squad and Kajoke with Nyasa Big Bullets.

“But as a club, we have to be ready to face any opponent for the good. So our preparations have to be on point and bring the right personnel. Last week we had trials and the club will settle on who to settle with this coming week.

“Of course, some of our targets committed themselves somewhere but we are Dynamos, we are not bothered, we will focus on what we have.

“Also some players are leaving the club despite our efforts to keep them within our ranks which we believe will create opportunities for others to shine,” said the source.

Dynamos are expected to announce Genesis Mangombe as their head coach after he was appointed on an interim basis last season.

Mangombe is believed to be the right person to lead the Glamour Boys after landing the prestigious Chibuku Super Cup a feat the club failed to achieve since 2014.

He is regarded as key in this project for continuity’s sake.

Chawonza revealed that the club will be announcing Mangombe as the head coach officially soon.

“Mangombe is going to pen down a three-year contract with the club. The club was waiting to have some logistical issues covered first then the club would proceed to announce him officially.

“The club highly ranks him and is here to stay. We have been in discussions with our sponsor as this time around we are going to be involved in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“The process might have taken a bit longer than expected but all is under control,” said the source.
