Dzowo, Mazorodze to host visitors to Great Zim

All beauty queens in the provinces are expected to market tourist attractions in their respective areas during their tenure through provincial ZTA offices.
Miss Tourism is a beauty pageant sponsored and managed by ZTA.

The beauty queens would among other things give the history of the magnificent monuments and Zimbabwe at large and help visitors move around the monuments
Mazorodze said they have planned a number of activities for the occasion slated for the Christmas period.
She said their aim was to market local tourist attractions to all the visitors especially from outside the country so that they can have an appreciation of the province’s heritage.

“We would be giving all visitors information about our monuments explaining to them how they originated. Our main aim is to educate the
foreigners so that they appreciate the background of such monuments as Great Zimbabwe.
“Great Zimbabwe is a magnificent place that has got a very rich history and we
feel that there is a need for us to play our ambassadorial role through marketing places of interests in the province,” said Mazorodze.

The former Masvingo Christian College student said marketing tourist attractions in the province was part of their work as reigning beauty queens for the province.
“From the day we were crowned beauty queens we were entrusted by ZTA to carry out charity work and market all the tourist attractions within our jurisdiction. We are happy to be part of such initiative because we get the opportunity to meet different people as we play our role of marketing Zimbabwe,” she said.

Mazorodze said activities lined up include
jumping castles and horse riding for kids. Visitors would be afforded a chance to have a photo session with the beauty queens.

ZTA head of public relations, events and protocol, Sugar Chagonda said the hosting of visitors at centres of attraction in the country was part of the authority’s marketing drive.

“Mollyn Mazorodze and Samantha Dzowo are the reigning Miss Tourism queens, and as part of their work for the ZTA they are tasked with marketing areas of attractions within the province. They will be hosting tourists at the monuments over the Christmas holiday. This is done by all beauty queens across the country and these girls work in our provincial offices,” said Chagonda.
