E-learning in rural schools vital

Government needs support in their endeavor to transform and uplift rural education standards to move in tandem with the current digitalized ways of learning, a cabinet minister has said.”

Industry and Commerce minister Cde Mike Bimha said this in a speech read on his behalf by the Deputy Director in the ministry Mr Jennings Rukani at the launch of Manyene Holycross Old Students Association (MHOSA) in Chikomba.

Cde Bimha said there was a need to spearhead the introduction of e-learning in rural schools.

“Education is evolving with each day and such a development is in line with His Excellency President Mugabe’s Computers for All Schools programme,” he said.

The president of MHOSA, Mr Honest Rwodzi said their association was formed in order to help the school uplift its educational standards. MHOSA donated text and exercise books to the school and to pupils who had excelled in their studies.

Cde Bimha congratulated the former students for rising above their humble backgrounds to form an association which he said is arguably “the first rural day school to have a vibrant Old Students Association.”

Manyene Holycross Secondary school is one of the many beneficiaries of the Presidential computerisation programme.
