Eagles win again

MASHONALAND Eagles recorded their third victory in as many matches at Old Hararians Sports Club yesterday when, despite being handicapped by the weather, they triumphed over Matabeleland Tuskers by four wickets with two overs to spare. On a sunny morning after heavy rain the previous day, Matabeleland Tuskers won the toss and decided to bat.

Mashonaland Eagles went into this match top of the league table, having secured 10 points from two large victories, while Matabeleland Tuskers had four points from a victory and a defeat.

Brian Chari, fresh from a fine century against Bangladesh A, did not shape up this time and scored only six before edging a ball from Taurai Muzarabani to the wicketkeeper.

There followed a good partnership between Nkosana Mpofu and Craig Ervine, who began rather slowly but then added 61 together in 17 overs. —zimcricket.
