EcoCash Super App’s ‘Explore’ feature potential shot in the arm for Africa’s content creator community

Sunday News Correspondent

The EcoCash Super App’s new “Explore” feature has been welcomed as a bold step towards redefining digital financial services, with the Super App among the first in Africa to directly integrate content discovery with built-in monetization.

Developed by Sasai Fintech, a business of Cassava Technologies, the EcoCash Super App is Africa’s first all-encompassing social payments application, bringing together transactions, chat and explore onto one powerful ecosystem.

The new Explore feature sits at the heart of this ecosystem, as a dynamic content discovery hub inside the Super App. It allows users to browse, engage and transact within a single environment, effectively transforming the platform into a daily hustle hub for millions of users.

It enables creators, influencers and entrepreneurs to showcase content across categories such as entertainment, lifestyle, business and community, thus generating income directly from engagement on their content. This allows followers and audiences to support the creators seamlessly, through EcoCash’s integrated payment system.

EcoCash said the innovation was aimed at unlocking economic opportunities for Zimbabwe and Africa’s fast-growing digital creative community.

“The Explore feature gives creators a powerful and convenient stage to showcase their work while enabling them to monetise their creativity on the go – instantly,” an EcoCash spokesperson said.

“By integrating payments with content discovery, what we are really doing is empower creators to turn engagement into income.”

Globally, creator-driven platforms have become major drivers of the digital economy, but monetisation tools have often remained limited or difficult to access for creators in emerging markets.

But EcoCash aims to change that and bridge the gap by integrating monetisation into its mobile payment system.

Instead of relying on external platforms or complex payment arrangements, creators can now reach audiences and receive support in the same digital environment.

This functionality is expected to benefit a wide range of users – from comedians and musicians to digital educators, influencers and small business owners using content to promote their products.

“The Explore feature is part of a broader innovation pipeline, with additional services such as stablecoin-based solutions (including remittances) and other digital financial offerings, set to be introduced soon,” EcoCash said.

The launch of the EcoCash Super App follows Sasai Fintech’s recent first-of-its-kind partnership in Africa with Circle, the world’s leading full-stack platform and stablecoin company.

The partnership seeks to expand the use of stablecoins across Africa, with users of the EcoCash Super App – developed by Sasai Finech – expected to benefit from the colaboration.

The move reflects a broader shift in digital services, where payments are increasingly embedded in daily online digital engagements.
