10 privileged customers, thanks to Econet Wireless.
Econet, the country’s largest telecoms operator, is giving away life-changing scholarships to 10 of its subscribers who shop at OK during the Grand Challenge. Each of the scholarships is worth US$2 000, providing the opportunity for each winner to pay for fees at school or university.
Econet has been a proud partner of OK during the Grand Challenge for years, a partnership that has generated great value to millions who are both OK shoppers and Econet subscribers.
The awarding of scholarships is an innovative break with the usual prizes that have been awarded in promotions before, and therefore adds even more excitement to this year’s OK Grand Challenge.
By awarding scholarships as prizes, Econet is underlining its active role in building the country’s future by investing in educating Zimbabwe’s youth.
Through the Joshua Nkomo Scholarship Fund, Econet already provides scholarships to hundreds of high school and university students each year.
To enter the Grand Challenge promotion, subscribers will purchase US$1 or US$5 electronic airtime vouchers from any OK store nationwide, write their details (name, ID, address and mobile number) on the back of the voucher and drop it in the Econet entry box provided in-store.
During the promotion, Econet subscribers who buy US$1 electronic airtime at OK will get 10 local txt messages worth 90 cents. A US$5 recharge will give the subscriber 60 free local txt messages worth US$5,40. The promotion will be valid for US$1 and US$5 electronic airtime vouchers only.
Other prizes that Econet is giving away include 10 Nokia 7230 handsets, 10 massive US$100 airtime vouchers and a whopping ten 1GB data bundles.
Econet already runs the country’s largest privately funded welfare programme. To date, over 50 000 young Zimbabweans have been assisted through the company’s various social investment vehicles under the Econet in the Community initiative.
Apart from the Joshua Nkomo Scholarship Fund, Econet supports thousands of orphans, provides funding to the country’s healthcare system, and also funds the spread of the gospel, in line with Econet’s founding principles.
