ECONET Wireless says it has embarked on a network infrastructure upgrading programme in Bulawayo to boost service quality at a time when subscribers are complaining of a slow network and congestion. Econet chief customer service officer Stanley Henning assured subscribers of improved service while officially opening a “Hunters Fly Econet Shop” in Bulawayo.
“We’re opening this shop to relieve congestion and offer quicker and easier service delivery. We’re offering services that will be different from all other network providers – faster, quicker and reliable data.
“We’ve upgraded our data from 3G to 4g. The 4G/LTE is the next generation of technology capable of giving us higher speed 10 times faster than the 3G in terms of data,” he said.
“We’re also the only authorised iphone distributor with greater production means. The setting up of our network is spot on.”
Henning said Econet had invested about $3 million towards a new state of the art contact centre in Harare, creation of a High Value Customer /Platinum customer arm of the business, opening of three state of the art suites in Bradfield, Bulawayo, Avondale and Borrowdale in the capital.
He said pursuit of innovation was at the heart of the company towards provision of more value to all subscribers.
Bulawayo Mayor Councillor Martin Moyo, who was the guest of honour, applauded Econet for spearheading innovation.
“This move is a sign of Econet’s commitment to provide telecommunication services to all people in the country. It is heartening to know that today Bulawayo residents can enjoy the convenience of accessing various Econet products and services right at their door step,” he said.
Nkosinamandla Ncube, Econet regional manager for the southern region, said the opening of a new shop was a milestone achievement for the Econet family.
