adminStakeholders in the country have proffered possible solutions to current economic challenges while some are presently preoccupied with the formulation and adoption of strategies – short, medium and long term – through which the economy can realise its potential. The anticipated improved standard of living for Zimbabweans and the possibility that this economy will occupy its rightful place in the region and on the global stage are factors that persuade Government and its stakeholders to endure sleepless nights in pursuit of solutions.
While all this is well and dandy, very little or no progress at all will be achieved if the greatest economist, God himself, is not given his rightful place in the scheme of things.
The Bible says “many are the plans of man, but it is God’s purpose that prevails”! This says it all. We need God to guide and lead this nation towards prosperity.
The economy needs the hand of God to achieve its purpose and turn this country into that which He created it to be.
Through His creative power Zimbabwe is endowed with rich mineral and natural resources, hosts one of the Seven Wonders of the World and boasts of resourceful and highly skilled people, among its many attributes.
But the role of God and his servants should never be taken for granted in present-day economics. In fact, as a country we cannot afford to do so and expect to prosper.
Many strategies have been formulated and implemented, but they all come to nought if there is no spiritual guidance.
Research has shown that traditionally, the Church has played a critical role in governance, something that many modern economies have not adopted.
Unfortunately, Zimbabwe has also been found wanting. In this country, it is imperative that Government, the private sector and other stakeholders should work with men and women of God in pursuit of solutions to revive the economy.
This will be the only guarantee for success. It is not good enough to just have a pastor do an opening prayer at functions or meetings, but these people should have a much bigger say in policy formulation and implementation.
We need to let the church and its leaders play a more prominent role in the running of our country’s affairs.
Since time immemorial church leaders, pastors, prophets have been strategically placed in positions of power and influence because without them no country or government reaches its full potential and walks in line with God’s will.
Zimbabwe has been blessed with servants of God who hear directly from God in the mould of Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa of the United Family International Church, Professor Ezekiel Guti of Zaoga Forward in Faith, Prophet Uebert Angel (Spirit Embassy), Bishop Tudor Bismark of New Life Ministries and Pastor Tom Deuschle of Celebration Church and many others that could help steer the economy in the right direction.
We need to draw from these deep wells of knowledge and wisdom so our country can move in the God-ordained direction it is supposed to.
For any roadmap or course of action to be successful, it needs to be anchored on heavenly principles and inspiration.
Such men of God as Prophet Makandiwa hail from the office of God and have been given special grace to understand present and future times and how the two can relate.
They hear the voice of God and are well able to interpret it for the good, not just of individuals, but of our country and other nations.
They call things into existence and have the anointing to transform situations. This economy badly needs massive transformation.
The prophets are blessed with visions and revelations of how our country should progress, but they are not being given the platform to reveal these visions and the perfect will of God for our nation.
If our economy is to prosper and our plans and strategies are to be foolproof then we need their wise counsel.
Spiritual leaders can offer great insight, vision and advice to Government and business leaders if only they let them. It would, therefore, be critical to give these people their rightful place.
In the Bible the nations and individuals that prospered were those that had a relationship with God and would seek counsel from His prophets.
People like King David would be advised by prophets on most facets of their reign and they prospered.
The word of God is replete with examples of how nations and individuals that took heed of the wise counsel by prophets prospered. How wars were won and how disasters were averted when leaders sought the counsel of prophets.
The benefits cannot be overemphasised as we desperately search for answers to challenges besetting our country in general and the economy in particular, we need to actively engage these people of God.
Bodies such as parastatal and private sector boards, advisory councils, business organisations, commissions and other such should have men and women of God sitting on them to give spiritual guidance.
Already churches are playing a defining role in education, health and other socio-economic facets through opening universities, schools and hospitals while others such as the United Family International Church are helping thousands of children from primary school to university level with school fees and other attendant needs.
If such efforts are taken to a higher level where they are involved on the grand arena, the economy will emerge better.
For instance, Prophet Makandiwa has given several prophecies about the economy and how the mining sector will spearhead growth. Obviously he has so much to say about this country and can advise the powers that be on the routes to take.
Imagine if Government allowed this anointed man of God to advise on which mining sub-sector to pour resources into?
Imagine if Government and the private sector could be enlightened on the impending summer cropping season in terms of rainfall patterns and the particular crops to put more focus into.
Imagine if Prophet Makandiwa would give advice on how the civil service wage and salary demands can be resolved.
Imagine how much time, resources and expertise would be saved if, by virtue of having a prophet of his stature in our midst, we could do things in the right manner and timing.
Imagine how relations between Government, business, labour and the civil service would improve if potential challenges were revealed before they occur.
Why can we not maximise on the presence of such men in our country? In August, Prophet Makandiwa challenged politicians to consult him on strategies that would carry the country forward.
Certainly if we align our plans, purposes, policies and strategies with divine wisdom, then we can rest assured of victory.
A lasting solution can only come if we are walking in line with God’s purpose for our beloved country.
We need to exploit fully the power of the pulpit and use it formulate and implement strategies, programmes, policies that are guaranteed by God himself to work.
