Voting for Zanu-PF and President Mnangagwa is the only way to guarantee the preservation of the country’s legacy, children of veterans of the liberation struggle have said. Addressing Mashonaland East provincial members of the Children of Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (CZNLWVA) at Zanu-PF provincial headquarters in Marondera last week, the organisation’s national chairperson, Mr Innocent Mhlanga, said President Mnangagwa was a principled man who has people at heart.

“One of the objectives of our association is to protect this country’s legacy,” he said. “Our fathers and mothers fought for the freedom of this country and some even died fighting, so as their children, we will carry forward the good work they have left.

“Zanu-PF is a principled people’s party and everyone in the party is guided by those principles. Those who choose to override the principles must be corrected. We are happy with what our President is doing for the war veterans: he gives support and respect to the war veterans and as their children, we learn good things from him.

“Our President is a principled man and we will support him in protecting our legacy by voting for him.”
Mr Mhlanga urged people to respect the sacrifice made by freedom fighters by being patriotic.

Those who do not respect and recognise the role and sacrifice of freedom fighters, he said, could not be entrusted with the country’s leadership.

Mr Mhlanga urged the new political administration to consider empowerment programmes that also include children of war veterans.

He commended Government efforts to turn around the country’s economy, saying every well-meaning Zimbabwean needed to support such initiatives.
