Newly-elected Karoi Town Council chairperson councillor Abel Matsika has pledged to follow President Mnangagwa’s promise to be a listening leader.

In his acceptance speech soon after his election, Clr Matsika said he would be available to every resident despite gender, political affiliation and race.

He also called for teamwork and results-orientation in all areas of service delivery.

“I call upon every one of us to work as a team, the task we have at hand is insurmountable and we need very instant results,” he said

He urged everyone at the Karoi Town Council to exert themselves in crafting sound policies.

“I would also want to call upon fellow councillors to give the best possible effort in making very sound policies and progressive policies that dovetail with central Government’s thrust to develop the livelihoods of our people,” he said.

Cllr Matsika said he would use an open door policy urging residents and ratepayers to engage council whenever they had issues that needed to be addressed while allowing all chances to find resolutions to possible conflict.

Karoi Town Council spokesperson, Mr Precious Nharara, welcomed the swearing in of the councillors.

He also urged residents to embrace the new leadership.

“I would like to call upon the Karoi community to embrace the aspirations, enthusiasm and vision of the incoming council and to move in step with them for the attainment of their objectives and goals,” he said.
