‘Education, technology key drivers for economic development’

GOVERNMENT under the Second Republic is dedicated to creating a conducive environment that fosters innovation and business growth across all sectors of the economy, Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister July Moyo has said.

Speaking at the official opening of the 2024 Midlands Show at the weekend, Minister Moyo emphasised Government’s focus on investing in education and technology as key drivers of economic development.

“Government is committed to fostering an environment where innovation can thrive. We are investing in education and technology to ensure that our people have the skills and resources they need to succeed,” said Minister Moyo, who also serves as the patron of the Midlands Show Society.

The Minister highlighted that the Government is implementing policies aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship and supporting both large and small businesses. 

He stressed the importance of collaboration in achieving a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future.

“We believe that by working together, we can create a future that is prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable,” said Minister Moyo.

The event brought together a variety of businesses and Government departments showcasing their products and services, reflecting the province’s diverse economic activities.

Local businessman, Mr Clever Mandaza, who also spoke at the event, urged stakeholders to adopt a forward-thinking approach in the expansion of their enterprises. 

He emphasised the importance of innovation and collaboration in the modern business environment.

“There is a need to have new ideas for any business to grow. Today, we are celebrating smart ideas. Making smart plans for farming using technology. Let us celebrate people who always come with new ideas,” said Mr Mandaza. 

“Let us also realise that new ideas are made by people who work together and share special decisions. Today’s business landscape requires people who think outside the box.”

The Midlands Show is an annual event, that serves as a platform for exchanging innovative ideas and promoting the province’s economic potential, with participants showcasing the best of what the Midlands has to offer in terms of products, services, and future prospects.
