The Economic Empowerment Group (EEG) on Christmas day gave back to communities as the lobby group continues empowering people both local and in the Diaspora in line with President Mnangagwa’s policy of leaving no one and no place behind.
EEG members led by Matabeleland South Provincial chairperson Cde Fisani Moyo donated groceries to patients and hospital staff at Gwanda hospital, Phakami and Old age Care centre on Christmas day.
The hospital staff also received an assortment of groceries much to their enjoyment.
Cde Moyo also donated groceries to patients and staff at Phakama clinic where he promised to buy them a new ambulance as the patients were using taxis when being transferred to Gwanda Hospital.
The final stop was at Old Age Care Centre where they donated a television set for the senior citizens and had lunch.
Cde Moyo encouraged people to give back to the community.
“The situation was not good in Gwanda that is why we as EEG and Young Women for Economic Development felt the need to plough back to the Gwanda community in particular Phakama Clinic,” he said.
“We will keep on visiting the centres so that we can get some blessings from elder people and we were happy that one of them turned 102 years. We had a nice time and enjoyed a meal with the centurion,”Cde Moyo said. EEG recently negotiated with responsible authorities so that youths and women could get land and embark in businesses. Some EEG members were elected into the Zanu PF central committee, including the EEG president Cde Mike Chimombe, who represents Mashonaland West, EEG vice president Cde Munyaradzi Kashambe from Mashonaland East, Harare provincial chairperson Cde Memory Manhiyo, Cde Mabutho Moyo from Bulawayo province and Cde Terence Mukupe from Mashonaland West.
