NEW YORK. – Police have arrested an eight-year-old boy and charged him with throwing two boys aged four off the roof of a six-storey house, after trying to rob them.
One of the four-year-olds was killed but the other broke his fall on a pile of rubbish.
Police said the dead boy, Javier Segarra, had no money but offered his attacker a potato chip in a pathetic gesture before being hurled to his death.
The other, Elben Laroucuente, spent 10 days in the hospital recovering from his injuries.
He claimed he merely fell off the roof, but yesterday his 17-year-old brother, Lester, told the eight-year-old whose name is being withheld, had gone around his neighbourhood boasting of what he had done.
LESSONS FOR TODAY
Parents need to pay special attention to their children to protect them from harm and bullying, which is a major problem among school going ages.
When one has done something wrong, it doesn’t do them any good to go around boasting about their exploits, because they will eventually be caught.
Some of the behaviours that children exhibit is a direct result of issues that they encounter in their homes. This is particularly true for children in first world countries like the United States where there have been cases of school children being shot and killed by their gun-toting fellow students.
