Bulawayo-based psalmist, Sipho “Snowy” Ncube has shared his optimism ahead of the inaugural Ekhaya Worship Festival, describing it as a timely and empowering platform for local gospel musicians.

“This is a blessing for the current generation of gospel musicians in Bulawayo. We’ve long yearned for such a platform to showcase our God-given talents. Ekhaya Worship Festival is that doorway to greatness,” said Snowy.

Scheduled for Africa Day (May 25) at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo, the festival — free to attend — will run from 10am to 10pm. It boasts a powerful line-up of regional, international and local gospel acts.

The event promises to be a spiritually uplifting celebration of worship, unity and community and is already being hailed as a future cornerstone of Zimbabwe’s gospel music calendar.

The festival is the brainchild of multi-award-winning gospel musician Everton Mlalazi, who described the initiative as a lifelong dream rooted in faith, identity and a deep love for his hometown.

“Over the years, I’ve carried a dream in my heart to return to Ekhaya koBulawayo and organise a concert that unites people from all walks of life, in praise to one God. This festival is more than just an event; it’s a heartfelt mission to bring people closer to God through music, unity and shared faith,” said Mlalazi.

The star-studded line-up includes Spirit of Praise’s Omega Khunou and Joyous Celebration’s Sbu Noah, Once More Six, Reality 7, Takesure Zamar Ncube, UK-based Mkhululi Bhebhe, and Abigail Mwembe. Notably, the event also provides a strong platform for local gospel artistes, many of whom have long awaited such an opportunity to expand their ministries. These include Mai Mwamuka, Pastor Barak, Lorraine Maplanka, Conquerors Afrika, VOP Music, Revealed, Vusa Mangena, Vocal Ex, Snowy and the Harvest House Choir.

Canaan Nyathi

South Africa-based Canaan Nyathi, the voice behind the hit Baba Ziveze, is another headline act bringing star power to the festival. Speaking from Johannesburg, he expressed his humility and excitement at being part of the inaugural edition.

“I’m honoured to be among such great artistes. To be part of this official launch is a blessing. I believe the festival will grow in years to come and bring hope and fellowship to the people of Bulawayo. My performance will blend worship and Postori-inspired praise — my fans know I always bring fire on stage,” said Nyathi.

Celebrated gospel songstress Mai Mwamuka will also use the platform to showcase material from her upcoming album, Hymns.

“I’m grateful to God for the opportunity to minister alongside such great men and women of faith. Hymns remain powerful and unifying within the body of Christ and I look forward to sharing them on this special day.”

In addition to its spiritual and musical offerings, the festival will also host a Free Health Expo. Open to all attendees, the initiative will provide free medical check-ups, health screenings, wellness education, consultations, and basic treatments — a reflection of the festival’s holistic ministry that nurtures both body and spirit.
