The company’s managing director Mr Thompson Mabika said the factory has not been supplying any refrigerated products since Sunday.
“The electrical fault occurred on Sunday night and currently Zesa is working flat out to resolve the problem and we are hoping that by tomorrow (today) the supplies would be restored. This has greatly affected our production and supply of refrigerated products,” he said.
Mr Mabika said there has been no production at all at the factory and this had adversely affected the supply chain.
Dairibord’s production potential currently stands at between 35 and 50 percent and the firm will be commissioning a new plant this month to meet the huge demand for yoghurt varieties.
Many companies countrywide have been facing problems due to intermittent power supplies. Zesa is currently generating about 1 300MW against a national demand of 2 200 MW.
However, power generation is expected to improve following plans by Zesa to establish virtual power plants in the second half of the year.
This is an ICT-based power management system that will enhance the effective utilisation of power.
