AN international intellectual organisation has urged businesses to embrace information communication technologies to promote creativity, inventions and innovations to ensure data integrity checks and controls.
Speaking at a World Intellectual Property Organisation training workshop in Victoria Falls yesterday, project manager for the Global Infrastructure Sector Gregory Sadyalunda encouraged businesses to have a major role in records validation and verification to ensure data quality management.
“It’s important for organisations to overview on data validation and verification especially with this movement towards online services. As a business grows there is need for accurate and relevant information regarding its operations thus a reason why organisations must embrace ICTs to remain relevant,” Sadyalunda said.
At the rate technology is developing, he said, there was a need for businesses to be trained on how to remain relevant if they want to survive in the modern world where technology is taking centre stage.
“Through this training workshop we hope we can build capacity and technical skills of Industrial Property Administration System (Ipas) to deepen the understanding of the system’s capability. This will enable and provide support for data validation and verification,” said Sadyalunda.
Speaking at the same occasion, Zimbabwe Intellectual Property Office senior examiner Morncliff Mudzvatangi encouraged a close relationship between member countries in matters relating to industrial property.
“We encourage member countries to pool resources in industrial property matters together in order to avoid duplication of financial and human resources. Member states are already aware of the advantage to be derived from the effective and continuous exchange of information and harmonisation and coordination of their laws and activities in industrial property matters,” Mudzatangi said.
Delegates drawn from African Regional Intellectual Property Organisation (Aripo) member countries are attending the five day conference.
