Government has urged small and medium enterprises to embrace technology so that they benefit from it and boost their production and trade as well as developing the country’s economy. Small and Medium Enterprises and Co-operatives Development Minister Sithembiso Nyoni told journalists at a press conference yesterday that it was critical for entrepreneurs to develop technologies that improve SMEs’ potential.

She said more than 100 local and foreign SMEs were expected to share experiences and ideas at this year’s SMEs International Expo scheduled to start from tomorrow until Saturday.
The expo, to be held at Rainbow Towers, will be attended by nine countries from Africa, Asia and Europe. “Our SMEs need to be competitive, thus technology is key as it is essential for production and distribution of goods and services,” said Minister Nyoni.

“In this era where technology is changing every day, it has now become apparent that those SMEs that will survive the globalisation tide are the ones that will be able to quickly harness and adapt technology to their benefit,” she said.
