Emerging artists to exhibit at Intwasa Arts Festival

to 25.
The exhibition is targeting artists who are yet o exhibit and are looking at making a breakthrough into the mainstream art world.
The co-ordinator of the Namuhla Lakusasa exhibition, Voti Thebe, said young emerging artists find it hard to have an exhibition of their own due to the costs involved.
“We are looking at artists who are just coming from college and do not have the experience and resources to put up exhibitions of their own.
“We have a lot of them around the city who have been looking to make such a breakthrough,” he said.
Thebe, who is also the director of the National Gallery in Bulawayo, said a lot of untapped talent will be seen at the exhibition.
He added they are still accepting work from young artists for the exhibition that will open on September 22.
“We are accepting any form of visual art, whether it is sculptor, painting, drawing, textile, print, batik, pottery or photographs.
“We dubbed the festival Namuhla Lakusasa as a sign that we are showing current and future works.
“I believe these young artists will bring in a new signature, an entirely new visual language,” said Thebe.
The exhibition will be wholly funded by Intwasa Arts Festival.
