Dubai-based Emirates airline at the weekend said it will be offering travellers from Zimbabwe discounted fares to various destinations across the world as it seeks to boost passenger volumes from the country.

In what it has dubbed “the companion fare”, the global airline said the reduced charges were specially targeted at people who travel in pairs up to a maximum of nine.

“The special fares are aimed at encouraging more of Emirates’ ‘globalistas’ looking to travel in pairs and groups to make good on their resolutions to see the world and share experiences,” Emirates country manager for Zimbabwe Mr Paulos Legesse said.

“Part of what makes travel special for most passengers is the chance to share their experiences with their loved ones. With the Companion Fare, they can not only connect with the rest of the world at any of more than 140 Emirates Airline’s destinations but do so together.”

The flights are for a limited period up to end of June.

Emirates has been operating the Harare-Lusaka via Dubai route since 2012.

It also offers connections to over 140 destinations in the world.

The airline is also one of the few playing a huge role in the shipment of Zimbabwean agricultural produce to other destinations across the world. — New Ziana.
