TWO suspected robbers, who were in the habit of smashing vehicle windows at the High Glen roundabout in Harare before stealing valuables, have been arrested.
Police have since recovered 10 cellphones from the suspects. They are Norbert Mhazvi (24) and Trymore Majamafuku (30).
In a statement, Criminal Investigations Department (CID) spokesperson Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri said the suspects were arrested in connection with smash-and-grab cases that occurred at the High Glen Roundabout area.
“The duo was arrested on July 31 2025, following a series of thefts from cars in the area, which prompted detectives from CID Theft From Car (TFC), Harare, to conduct surveillance. In one of the cases that occurred in April 2025, the duo smashed the window of complainant’s motor vehicle, before making off with valuables,” Det Insp Muteweri said.
“They also targeted another complainant at Montague Shopping Centre on July 27 2025, robbing him of cash and cellphones. Pursuant to their robbing spree, they later that same day, targeted another victim at High Glen Roundabout using the smash and grab modus operandi. Following their arrest, a total of 10 cellphones were recovered and 8 are yet to be identified by their rightful owners.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is now appealing to members of the public who may have fallen victim to similar circumstances to come forward and identify their property.”
