Endurance — key to Zimbabwe’s successes

Dr Obert Moses Mpofu

ENDURANCE! This is perhaps one of the most suitable terms we can use to describe Zimbabweans. Our people have endured a lot at the hands of our detractors on our path towards economic determination.

We have had attacks from all angles, all because we did the unexpected and forged a path for our people to attain prosperity. Endurance has always been a characteristic synonymous with Zimbabweans.

We endured the 16 years of armed struggle and emerged victorious. We have endured so much more ever since, and there will still be more to endure. But ultimately, we will always succeed. We are not a people that often loses. We are a resourceful people who have the ability to find their way, even in the darkest of times.

For the past 20 plus years, we as a country have withstood hardships in the face of adversity from our detractors. Their intention was to cripple our nation such that, the gains of the liberation struggle would be reversed. But alas, due to our people’s resilience, this has not been successful. Rather, Zimbabweans have been able to look within and spur their nation forward.

We have achieved quite immense progress and there’s a lot to come. We are only getting started and all signs point to immeasurable success ahead. It is not only our people who have endured, but our country’s leadership as well, who have received constant abuse and have been slapped and exposed to a barrage of illegal sanctions mercilessly.

This is a travesty which has seen our people being mercilessly punished. It is simply not right. Had we been weaker, our nation would have since collapsed. However, Zimbabweans have a notable strength of character and are not easily shaken, nor do they easily give up.

They have held the line and have been crucial in uplifting our great nation. The torture we have endured under the heavy weight of sanctions in recent times has made us adapt to such harsh conditions and chart a path forward. We have turned a negative scenario into a positive one full of promise. The sun is now shining upon us.

Zimbabwe under a Zanu-PF-led Government is now quite the marvel. This is because, there is no party quite like Zanu-PF. One can traverse far and beyond and they may never encounter anything like the colossal people’s party.

Zanu- PF is one of the few remaining people’s movements, which is why it has endured the test of time through difficult times and has emerged triumphant.

As the opposition continue to wither away into oblivion, my Party, Zanu-PF, will not rest on its laurels. We are now more than ever pressing ahead with our developmental programmes aimed at ushering our people into a new era of prosperity.

We are not for a second going to have our momentum slowed down, it’s all hands on deck and full-steam ahead. There is no time as 2030 is upon us, and this important deadline should find us already having met and surpassed our target of making Zimbabwe an Upper-Middle-Income Society.

Our people will indeed enjoy the fruits of their commitment to the Zanu-PF party. The people’s party has and will continue ensuring that the people of this great nation never want for anything.

This is the way that Zanu-PF will repay its electorate, that is through improved livelihoods. The investments we are spearheading are indeed worthy as they are for the upliftment of our people.

Of course there will be doubting Thomases among us, but then again, it is of no consequence. A quick look-around what’s happening in the country should quell these doubts.

It is only a few that are blinded by the usual rhetoric and lies that are not aware of the good deeds that have been happening under President Mnangagwa’s Zanu-PF led Government. Be that as it may, the progress and developments we are making are for all Zimbabweans to enjoy, even those who do not believe and refuse to see what’s in front of them.

They will all benefit as the works we are doing are for all Zimbabweans, regardless of their political affiliation. One day into the not so distant future, we as Zimbabweans will in hindsight appreciate all these great works that have uplifted our beloved nation. What seemed as an impossible task has now been achieved. Need we say more? We have truly done the needful and our country is back on track once more.

Even the usual noise makers have run out of steam and can’t peddle their lies anymore. They have run out of fake stories to sell to their handlers. There is nothing that beats the feeling of seeing and experiencing one’s nation prosper. It is quite refreshing.

As Zimbabwe forges on, full steam ahead, let it be known that my Party will not for a second leave any one or any place behind as espoused by our great leader, His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa who has transformed Zimbabwe’s fortunes for the better within a short period of time.

We as Zimbabweans can dare to dream once more and we look forward to the future with much anticipation. Our people should be commended for their resilience in the face of difficulties. Dr Obert Moses Mpofu is an academic and the Secretary-General of Zanu-PF. He writes in his own capacity.
