Energy investor expands Mat’land footprint

PROPRIETORS of Glow Petroleum have lined up multi-million-dollar projects in Matabeleland region including two proposed five-star hotels in Victoria Falls and shopping malls in Lupane and Beitbridge to be constructed starting next year.

The projects are expected to enhance the development of the region and help transform service delivery while creating job opportunities. Last week Glow Petroleum officially commissioned a US$1,3 million fuel service station, which is the first phase of a US$3 million one-stop shopping complex in Victoria Falls.

In an interview managing director, Mr Aaron Chinhara, said starting next year, construction of two hotels in Victoria Falls, a US$2,5 million food court in Hwange, a US$5 million shopping complex in Lupane, two garages in Bulawayo and another project in Beitbridge, will begin.

Glow Petroleum, which has also diversified into mining, runs a successful gold mine in Silalatshani in Filabusi and is setting another gold plant in Fort Rixon in Insiza District.

Mr Chinhara said his vision was to contribute to Zimbabwe’s development through improved service delivery and by building quality infrastructure.

“We are making developments in Matabeleland including fuel service stations in Bulawayo. We have got an investment for US$5 million in Lupane where we are putting a mall and a garage,” he said.

“There (Lupane) we are putting something very big. We are doing this to complement the local community of Lupane as the provincial headquarters of Matabeleland North and the Lupane State University.

“Today if students come out of lessons, they don’t have anywhere to go which is very decent and conducive. For that reason, we want to tap that as an opportunity and bring something that will cater for all those things that are needed for the provincial capital of Lupane,” said Mr Chinhara.

Lupane is Matabeleland North provincial capital but lacks investment in modern infrastructure that befits its status.
The relocation of Lupane State University and the planned movement of Government workers to the new provincial offices will result in huge demand for quality services. This also affects motorists along the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Highway as there are no proper facilities for recess along the road. – @ncubeleon.
