Local entrepreneurs have reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating with the Government in working towards the creation of smart cities.
Addressing journalists ahead of the inaugural Smart Zimbabwe Conference in Harare on Monday, event coordinator Mr Rufaro Nyadembera said the platform seeks to bring together key stakeholders to explore the latest advances in smart city initiatives and developments.
“Achieving this vision requires more than just the Government’s effort. The private sector, international organisations, professionals, and the general public all play an essential role in shaping this future,” he said.
“It is a platform for collaboration. Instead of working in silos, the conference creates a space for all stakeholders to come together, share their ideas, and develop practical solutions.
“We believe that through this collaboration, we can ensure Zimbabwe’s smart transition.”
The Smart Zimbabwe Conference is about collaboration, knowledge sharing and solution-building.
The expo will be a space for companies and innovators to showcase their smart solutions across diverse sectors such as health, cities, energy, ICT, security and transport.
It also provides an opportunity for businesses to position themselves as leaders in providing services that will support Zimbabwe’s transition to a smart future.
The smart city initiative is part of the Zimbabwe National Human Settlements Plan, which aims to address deficiencies in previous housing policies and contribute to Vision 2030 of an empowered upper-middle income society.
It also aligns with President Mnangagwa’s directive for local authorities to develop and implement master plans for improved service delivery.
