Journalists are invited to submit entries for the 2011 Sadc Media Awards.
The deadline for submissions is March 31. Entries are invited from the fields of print, radio, television and photojournalism.
The Sadc secretariat has said pro-spective entrants should submit entries accompanied by proof of their nationality to the national adjudication committee in their respective countries, normally the Information Ministry. Articles considered for the competition are those published or broadcast between January and December of the preceding year and in any Sadc member state.
“All media practitioners who are Sadc nationals may enter the competition, except those in the institutions contracted by Sadc, Sadc Secretariat staff and their immediate family members.
“All entries should be in one of the Sadc working languages that is English, French or Portuguese and should be submitted as they were published/broadcast (newspaper cuttings, websites, magazines, audio CDs or video cassettes.”
Winners will receive their prizes during the 31st Sadc Heads of State and Government Summit.
Each category winner will get US$2 000 and a certificate signed by the Sadc chairperson.
Media, Information and Publicity Ministry director of international communications, Dr Ivanhoe Gurira, yesterday said all submissions by Zimbabweans should come in before March 15 for adjudication.
