MAGWEWE offered token resistance to a fired up Entumbane who look set to win the Bulawayo ZRP Inter-Stations Soccer League match played at Marisha on Friday.
Gift goals were what Entumbane benefited from as at some stage the match looked balanced.
It was the visitors who found the back of net 20 mins into the game as Brighton Sibanda had the simplest of tasks to put the ball into an empty net after being set up by Mgcini Mpofu.
With Entumbane leading, it became relatively difficult for Magwegwe to test and make meaningful threats upfront and the absence of their top goalscorer Brian Mugandi was really felt though both teams played well evidenced by some good build-ups in the middle of the park.
The Magwegwe midfield had to make sure that Sipho Moyo got starved of the balls since he was the real threat, the Magwegwe gaffer had to assign the lanky Magwegwe defensive midfielder who has since exhibited both defensive and attacking prowess of late to keep an eye on him.
Mhlengi Ndlovu for the home team had a good first-half.
Brighton Sibanda thought he had given his side a caution goal but his shot was well saved by Partson Sithole diving at full length to parry the ball away for a corner.
The teams would go for the breather with Entumbane leading by a goal to nil courtesy of a Brighton strike.
Magwegwe would then gift the visitors two goals in quick succession, Sithole’s intended back pass to Nickson Mukangaza off a goal kick was intercepted by Shumba who tried to lob the ball over the goalminder but Jackie Sitsha cleared the ball into Shumba’s path who bundled the ball over the line for the second.
Positional changes were made as Farai Tavaruva who had picked a knock had to guard the post and Sithole becoming an in-field player and his presence was felt as his spectacular overhead kick was cleared off the line by Wisdom Bandura with the goalkeeper a well-beaten man.
Shumba would then put the game beyond Magwegwe’s reach when he scored the third for his side.
It’s a game that Magwegwe would go to the drawing board and say at least we should have earned a point had it not been not for the three soft goals they conceded which were avoidable.
In other rescheduled matches, Pumula lost at home to a determined Donnington 2-1, Takudzwa Kamwala scored for Pumula with a Dennis Chikopera brace earning the away team all the three points.
Hillside beat Cowdray Park 3-0.
Shepherd Chauke scored a brace with their skipper Luckymore Maganga weighing with the third.
