Fresh guidelines will be issued to all top-flight grounds early this week after football fans were targeted for the first time in terrorist attacks.
The new proposals are set to be issued to top-flight clubs well in advance of Saturday and Sunday’s matches. One suicide bomber tried unsuccessfully to gain access to the stadium during the France game against Germany. The French authorities believe another two bombers were ready to set off their vests in the street as football fans fled.
It was only when the bomber was refused entry to the ground that the vests were set off in the street, killing several people. The Premier League are consulting with their security advisors and the relevant authorities before speaking to clubs in this country.
A crackdown was launched on devices such as flares last season while stewards were trained and police targeted at-risk matches with sniffer dogs. — The Mirror.
