EPWORTH High School recently received computers donated by Zanu PF chairman of Joshua Nkomo District, Cde Simbarashe Manomano.
The programme aligns with Vision 2030, highlighting the Government’s call for sustainable, secure, and inclusive digital solutions to accelerate the nation’s transformation into a tech-driven economy.
Cde Manomano said the donation was not just about equipment, but about empowering communities with digital literacy.
“This initiative is about creating equal chances for all learners to thrive in a digital economy. Therefore, our mission is to ensure that every Zimbabwean, regardless of gender, age, or location, has access to digital tools and opportunities,” said Cde Manomano.
He emphasised the importance of policy frameworks guiding the rollout of technology in schools.
“We are assisting in the implementation of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy and the Cybersecurity Strategy to ensure responsible digital transformation. These frameworks will safeguard our children while preparing them for the future,” he said.
Cde Manomano said that the programme supports Vision 2030 of upper upper-middle-income economy.
“This Government’s aspirations motivate us to equip young people with tools to participate in a modern economy under Vision 2030,” he said.
“We want our schools to be the breeding ground for innovation and sustainable ICT solutions.”
Epworth High School Headmaster Mr Sylvester Chikwati said the computers will transform classroom learning, making students more competitive in a digital economy.
“This donation marks a turning point for our learners, who can now access modern tools for education,” he said.
“It ensures that Epworth High School is not left behind in Zimbabwe’s march toward Vision 2030.”
He also emphasised the importance of responsible digital literacy.
“We are committed to guiding our students to use ICT responsibly and productively. Our role as educators is to ensure that these tools build character, knowledge, and innovation,” said Mr Chikwati.
