Eurasian firms to attend indaba

Manufacturing companies from Europe and Asia are expected to attend this year’s International Investment Forum organised by Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI). Investors from Italy, South Korea, Indonesia, India and Turkey are expected to take part in the International Investment Forum slated for September.

CZI chief executive Mr Clifford Sileya said the two-day business forum will afford Zimbabwean companies an opportunity to endear themselves with international investors who might have business interests in the country.

“CZI will be holding its 2018 Congress and International Investment Forum on 26-28 September 2018, in Bulawayo and the it will run under the theme ‘From Dialogue to Implementation – It’s Time to Act!”

“As in 2017, congress will again have an international flavour — we expect international delegates. This year we have approached Italy, South Korea and Indonesia, in addition to India and Turkey, who came last year.

“There will also be a business-to-business (B2B) session, where views on selected economic sectors maybe exchanged among delegates,” he said.

Mr Sileya said CZI had deliberately delayed its congress till after the forthcoming harmonised elections that are likely to be held in July.

“We will definitely invite the new ministers charged with developing and growing our economy and also an approach will be made to the State President for a session at congress.

“As said earlier, this is preliminary information to assist companies in planning. As is the norm, members of CZI are strongly urged to exhibit their products and wares during congress. Exhibition is free but companies construct their own stalls, at their own cost,” he said.

CZI International Investment Forum resonates well with the new dispensation mantra that Zimbabwe is open for business.
Foreign Affairs Minister Lieutenant-General (Retired) Sibusiso Moyo has embarked on an international re-engagement programme.
