Event planners, creatives unshaken by chilly weather

UNFRIENDLY and biting cold spells might be sweeping across the country but club-goers, creatives, and events planners are having none of it. 

This weekend alone, Harare will be saturated with both outdoor and indoor events. 

In other parts of Zimbabwe, the script is the same as event planners and creatives who make their living from live acts remain defiant. 

Below are some of the major events to keep you warm this weekend: 

All set for Redefined Concert

Harare International Conference Centre will be on fire tomorrow when it host this year’s edition of the “Redefined Concert”. 

Top performers such as Jah Prayzah, Feli Nandi, Master H, and Winky D are taking part in the event. 

Gateway Stream, a subsidiary of Rainbow Towers Group, is behind the event. 

History is set to be made at the event as Master H’s ascendancy and Feli Nandi’s fairy tale will come under the spotlight again. 

It’s a must-attend show for revellers itching for quality indoor entertainment and variety. 

Carpe Diem DJs Affair hits H-Town

Organisers of the “Carpe Diem- DJs Affair” have said the stage is set for the event. 

The DJs and Decks Affair is set to give merry-makers an option on the day will be saturated. 

Top entertainers Prince Kaybee, Oscar Mbo, and Sun El Musician meet Hararians at this event. 

Ryan Synth, Tannie Swiss, DJ Chiweddar, Samuel Cosmic, St Emmo, and Shaku are also taking part in the event. 

Chillspot Family, Killer T pact pays

It will surely be a Mbare affair tonight at Steak House Bar & Grill in Adbernnie, Waterfalls when Zimdancehall game-changers meet. 

The Chillspot Family, led by hype-man DJ Fantan, will spend the night with the man of the moment, Killer T. 

What has raised the appeal of this double act is that both camps hail from Mbare and it promises to be an eventful reunion where fireworks are guaranteed. 

Buoyed by the success of his national anthem “Kana Ndanyura”, it will be a night to remember. 

Abisha Palmer’s Ultimate reggae remedy

Experience is finally paying off for this popular radio and club wheel-spinner-cum-hype-man. After his stellar performance at the just-ended OK Grand Challenge Race Day Concert last weekend at Borrowdale Race Course in Harare, Abisha won’t take a breather. 

Tomorrow, the Mbare-bred star takes his act to Sonke Lounge in Bindura. On Sunday, it will be an uptown reggae affair in Harare with Abisha at Home Town Coffee House & Barbecue at Sammy Levy’s Village, Borrowdale. 

Dendera star Sulu finds a perfect nest

Dubai-bound Suluman Chimbetu bids his fans farewell tonight with a “must-attend” show at Food Nest housed at Longcheng Plaza in Belvedere, Harare. 

A surprise act will provide cover at the event. 

Chinyani Clocks 66 in style

Sungura legend Shepherd Chinyani will celebrate his 66th birthday in his neighbourhood in Dzivaresekwa, Harare tonight. 

Famed for mentoring several top musicians, including Alick Macheso and Somandla Ndebele, Chinyani will hold a party at Hub 24 in the same neighbourhood. 

Progress Chipfumo, Somandla Ndebele, Kireni Zulu, and Sasha Amadhuve will grace the event. 

Mannex Motsi jamming at Katikiti stage

The consistent reggae crooner keeps evolving with each passing day. 

Tonight, the former Bootkin Clan will be in action at No. 15 York Avenue, or simply The Garden, in Newlands. Better known as Katikiti Stage, the place attracts the capital’s well-heeled and it promises to be a night of mature reggae music. 

Mbira affair at Captain Dete

Consistent mbira player, VeeMhofu, returns to this venue for their regular slot which has become popular with their fans in Harare. 

Mutambi dream comes true

Hard-working sungura musician, Simon Mutambi, is simply unstoppable. 

After launching his 12th album titled “Tiri Pamutsetse”, he will be promoting it at Rooftop Nite Club in the Choka area, Shamva, tonight. 

Tomorrow, he proceeds to Mudzi for another show at Mugos Sports Bar in the Makaha area. 

Sungura maestro Macheso goes to Kwekwe

Sungura ace Alick Macheso will hold a double in the Midlands this weekend. 

He opens his account with a show at Gulez Gardens in Kwekwe tonight, then he holds his belated 56th birthday celebrations with Zvishavane fans at Ya FM Radio Park this Saturday. 

Bazooker meets Wezhira

The Zimdancehall star is a risk-taker who is determined to meet his fans across the country. Tonight, he plays at Club Liquids in Masvingo. He will be supported by resident disc jockeys as he seeks to usher revellers into the weekend in style. 

Magical Mbira affair with Mangwenya

Diana “Mangwenya” Samkange has her African tradition and culture at heart. 

Tonight, she travels to Ruwa for a show at Red Eagle Sports Club in the neighbourhood. It starts at 9 pm. 

Mbeu keeps Tuku’s legacy alive

Pakare Paye’s brightest prospect, Ashton “Mbeu” Nyahora, will be in action at The Yard (formerly Bar Rouge) this evening. 

A product of the late Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi’s mentorship programme, Mbeu has never been disappointed at this venue. 

Professor Allan off to Kadoma

Dendera music father figure, Allan “Professor” Chimbetu, is still active in the game. 

He will stage three shows in the mining town where he commands a huge following. 

Tonight, he holds his first show at MacSherp Bar in Kadoma. 

After this show, he holds another gig at Messina Bar tomorrow. 

On Sunday, he will return to MacSherp where he was given another slot. 

Amuli flirts with Zimdancehall chanters

Sungura musician Gift “Case” Amuli is a jack of all trades when it comes to versatility. Tomorrow, he is set to grace the Hustlers Riddim launch at Chiroodza Village, courtesy of Zim Corner Music Promotions. He will rub shoulders with both seasoned and underground chanters comprising Uncle Epaton, T-Makwikwi, and Mad Dollar among others.
