Evolution of Attorney General’s legal system

UPDATE :

The Office of the Attorney General is launching a website at a Harare hotel and our Reporter, Freeman Razemba, is on the ground to provide live coverage.

The Attorney General Mrs Virginia Mabhiza, Deputy Attorney General Mr Nelson Dias, officials from the AG’s office and senior Government officials, are attending the ceremony.

After the launch of the website, there is going to be a meet the Attorney General session and a question and answer segment.

The Office of the Attorney General falls under the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs of Zimbabwe.

AG opens doors of engagement

The Attorney General, Mrs Virginia Mabhiza, has said a website is very important to any organisation that intends to make an impact as it is a tool that enables one to reach as many people as possible.

She said the Office of the AG is moving towards becoming a world class justice legal department.

“A website is very important to any organisation in modern day times as it is a tool that enables us to accomplish our work. So today marks a defining moment in the evolution of our legal system, a moment that brings us together as we chase the vision of a more accessible, transparent and efficient justice system for all Zimbabweans.

“As we launch this website, we are not just unveiling a digital platform, we are opening new doors for engagement, information and services that will shape the future of our legal landscape,” said Mrs Mabhiza

UPDATE :

Mandate of the Office of the AG

The Office of the AG was created in terms of Section 114 of the Constitution.

The Constitution mandates the Office to:

 be the chief legal advisor to the Government

 to represent Government in all legal cases

 to draft legislation on behalf of the Government.

 to protect, defend the rule of law and the public interest, among other legal duties
