A MARRIED woman from Bulawayo was recently raped by her boyfriend who had threatened to expose their extra marital affair to her husband after she had tried to break up with him.
Kudakwashe Maregedze (35) appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Tinashe Tashaya and was charged for rape as defined in Section 65 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.

According to prosecutor Mr Dumisani Ndlovu, Maregedze and the 26-year-old woman had an extra-marital affair after the woman started having problems with her husband.

Mr Ndlovu further told the court that the two seemed to enjoy sexual intercourse without protection to the extent that the woman forgot her marital problems for a while until a point that she discovered that the affair was causing more problems within her marriage and thus decided to end it.

The two had allegedly turned Maregedze’s Pumula North house into their love nest, where they would constantly meet and engage in unprotected sex.

“In the month of March 2015 the couple broke up and for a while, Maregedze consented to the break-up,” said Mr Ndlovu.
It is alleged that Maregedze later approached the woman in May, demanding that the only way they could break up was if she would have unprotected sex with him for the last time as he seemed to enjoy the forbidden fruit without protection.

“Maregedze called and requested her to meet him at Turnall Asbestos. Not knowing that he was on a sex mission, she agreed to meet him there,” said Mr Ndlovu.

When the two met, Maregedze allegedly demanded another session of unprotected sexual intercourse in order for their relationship to be a closed chapter. He further threatened that if she refused he was going to inform her husband about their secret affair they had for three months.

It is alleged that she refused but Maregedze persisted until she gave in and had unprotected sexual intercourse with him in a bid to keep her extra-marital affair a secret to her husband. She later reported the matter to the police.

Maregedze was remanded out of custody tol 11 September and was requested to pay bail of $150.
