Former Zimbabwe cricketer and Universal Long Drive world champion, Campbell “Macca” MacMillan will on Saturday be part of the crowd at the All Africa Golf Team Championships Networking Tournament that will tee off at the iconic Bulawayo Golf Club.

The 5-handicapper last year claimed the coveted Universal Longest Drive world title, smashing the competition with a staggering 442-yard drive at sea level.

The championships, held in South Carolina, Florida, USA, brought together the world’s top long drivers, but MacMillan’s impressive shot secured his place at the top.

“It’s an experience I can only ever have dreamed about,” an elated MacMillan said in an interview.

“To be crowned the Universal Longest Drive champion is truly surreal.”

MacMillan, a multi-talented athlete, has represented Zimbabwe as a professional cricketer, showcasing his exceptional sporting prowess. His transition to long driving has been remarkable, with only two years of experience in the sport.

“I’ve always been passionate about sports and fitness,” MacMillan added.

“When I’m not on the golf course, you can find me at the Cross Fit box, pushing myself to new limits.”

MacMillan’s Cross Fit training has undoubtedly contributed to his impressive strength and endurance, allowing him to generate the power needed for record-breaking drives.

The Universal Longest Drive competition measures drives at sea level to ensure a level playing field. MacMillan’s winning shot eclipsed the nearest competitor by an impressive margin.

“Campbell’s achievement is remarkable, and we were thrilled to see him take the title,” said Zimbabwe Golf Association President, Martin Chikwana.

“His drive was a masterpiece, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.”
MacMillan’s victory marks a significant milestone for Zimbabwean golf and sport, cementing the nation’s reputation for producing exceptional talent.

As for MacMillan, he’s already looking to the future: “This win is just the beginning. I’m eager to continue pushing myself and seeing how far I can take this incredible sport.”
