THE Four Brothers’ legendary drummer, Simba Saini, has bounced back on the musical scene with a new song called ‘Gogogoi’.
Saini was a key member of the chart-topping group, which was fronted by the late Marshall Munhumumwe. He now lives in South Africa with his family.
He told H-Metro:”
I am Simba Saini, the former legendary drummer with Marshall Munhumumwe’s Four Brothers band.
“I am back knocking on stages, radio stations and clubs with my new song called ‘Gogogoi’, which has instantly turned into a singalong hit at all my shows here in Cape Town.
“I have been based here with my family since the 2010 World Soccer Cup although I am always back in Zimbabwe.
“Gogogoi became an instant hit because of its lyrical artistry that directly defines what exactly is happening in our African lives.
“Gogogoi is lyrically tackling the issues of fathers-in-law, who are taking back their daughters from their happy marriages, because their husbands did not pay lobola.”
Saini added:
“Gogogoi has become a hit song because I experimentally blended a unique sound with an Afro-jazz upbeat tempo for a Zimbabwean touch.
“Soon, I will be launching my own brand of wine called ‘Saini Wines.’
“I have also released two albums, namely ‘Huruyadzo’ and ‘Misodzi yaAmai’.
“I am married and have four children.
“On Huruyadzo, I collaborated with a Ugandan saxophonist called Jackson Kirya Kutu, a South African keyboardist called Marcus Hounsel, a South African bassist called Mziwabantu and a Zimbabwean guitarist called Ndowa Nyamutambu.
“I was playing the drums and doing the vocals on the whole album,” he said.
Saini was a legendary drummer and vocalist and has worked with many big artists like the late Munhumumwe, Bob Nyabinde, Jonah Mutume and the legendary Philip Svosve of the Jabavu Drive band.
