NEWLY promoted Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side Bulawayo City have embarked on efforts to meet the Fifa club licensing conditions by engaging the requisite staff. Bulawayo City chairman Jerry Sibanda said their target was to have all the personel in terms of the world football governing body’s requirements by June.
Last Sunday, Amakhosi advertised for the post of finance officer with the closing date for the applications set for Friday. Sibanda disclosed that the club already has an officer administrator based at their temporary offices at Tower Block and after engaging a finance officer, the next task will be to hire a chief executive officer.
McKenzie Moyo, the Bulawayo City Council Deputy Director of Housing and Community Services is the club’s acting CEO.
He said while their wish was to meet all the requirements, it would be difficult to pay a CEO but they will look to fill that position by year end emphasising that they would have filled all the required positions by now but have been constrained by limited resources hence they were looking for sponsors to that effect to sustain a full secretariat.
Bulawayo City have put in place junior structures with the club now having Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 teams with plans afoot to establish a women’s team.
Former Highlanders secretary-general Andrew Tapela is odds on favourite to land the position of Bulawayo City CEO.
However, Sibanda says the position will be advertised and that they were looking for someone “with vast experience in football administration and is knowledgeable in the game”.
