A Harare man has been dragged to court for throwing away his children’s food or grabbing it for own consumption while the minors go hungry.
Martin Chidyausavi was taken to Harare Civil Court by his ex-wife, Talent Manhondo, who sought a peace order from magistrate Tafadzwa Miti.
Manhondo stated that Chidyausavi was in the habit of throwing away his former family’s food and water.
She said: “Your Worship, whenever l buy food for myself and the children, my ex-husband eats all of it by himself, leaving us on empty stomachs.”
The court asked Manhondo why she could not relocate from her current lodgings but she said she could not afford alternative accommodation.
She then pleaded with the civil court to grant her a peace order against Chidyausavi.
“He defied the last protection order and he is a problem as he causes dramatic scenes at my house,” said Manhondo.
Chidyausavi, who failed to attend court, was ordered to abide by the first court order which barred him from visiting his ex-wife or face arrest.
