IN honour of her uncle, former Miss Tourism Queen Worldwide (2019), Tania Tatenda Aaron, has organised a football tournament and cookout for the Chitungwiza Community Hall.

Tania’s uncle died last year in an accident along Seke Road that claimed the life of many others.

The 30-year-old, who is also Miss Global Zimbabwe (2021), described her uncle as a hero whose life was cut short too soon.

She believes that his legacy should not end with his death.

In an interview with Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, Tania said she is channelling community spirit into this transformative initiative set for Sunday.

Tania is targeting to feed 500 people.

“This initiative was born from a personal place of reflection, I have been on hold for quite some time now with the loss of my uncle.

“After losing my uncle in that horrific accident, which happened along Seke Road when that kombi yakatsikirirwa negonyeti.

“He was a hero whose life got snatched way too early and he supported the kids, a man whose presence, character, and contribution carried great meaning.”

She added:

“I made a deliberate decision that his legacy would not end with his passing.

“Instead, it would continue through action, service and impact.

“The tournament is, therefore, more than just an event. It is a platform for remembrance, empowerment and renewal.

“It represents the return of the Zimbabwean Queen with a renewed vision centred on youth development, ethical leadership, and grassroots transformation.

“The focus is on building from the roots, starting within communities, where real change truly begins.”

Tania said the football tournament is not simply about competition but about creating positive and a constructive spaces for young people in Chitungwiza and the surrounding areas.

Aligned with the broader mission of The Zimbabwean Queen platform, the tournament also carries a strong social message affecting the youth especially when it comes to drug abuse and mental health challenges.

“With the mantra centred on fighting drug abuse and promoting mental wellness among young people, the event seeks to provide alternatives to destructive lifestyles by offering engagement, mentorship and inspiration.

“Ultimately, this is not simply a project, it is a responsibility and a long-term vision.

“It is about continuity, service and contributing meaningfully to community development.”

Tania believe that when young people are given platforms to express themselves, and opportunities to develop their talents, vulnerability to harmful influences decreases.

“The aim is to create positive, constructive spaces for young people, encourage teamwork, discipline, and confidence through sport.

“We also want to promote creativity, life skills and self-expression through cooking and eating.

“Reinforce values of integrity, merit and fairness while fostering community engagement and unity through pageantry and talent searching,” she said.

Tania is also a former Miss International Zimbabwe (2018), Miss Global Zimbabwe (2021) and was a Miss Tourism Worldwide fourth runner-up in 2019.
