GIBSON Chisoni, a choreographer and composer, is on a mission to promote responsible betting through his new single titled “Kandenge.”
He was once a backing vocalist and dancer for Leonard Zhakata’s group. He commended H-Metro for raising awareness about betting following last weekend’s Indaba at Alex Sports Club in Harare, where various sectors of the betting industry convened.
“Responsible betting is now a crucial topic and I am pleased that the local press, led by H-Metro, is championing this cause,” he said.
“It’s essential for us to promote this message as many people are losing their hard-earned money to betting houses.
“Some individuals have even developed an addiction to betting. We urge punters to approach betting responsibly to prevent such issues.”
He urged punters to consider their families before placing bets.
“We want punters to consider their families before taking such risks. We can’t afford to continue hearing stories about people fainting and collapsing after losing bets,” he said.
Chisoni, whose single is taken from his upcoming album “Denga Radaira,” has been a solo musician for six years.
The album will be launched at the Liquid Lounge in Shamva.
“I can’t believe it has been six wonderful years that I have been navigating this musical terrain as a solo act after my time with Zhakata’s band.
“After learning a lot from him, there are some traits I acquired that are hard to drop.
“However, I am glad that fans now appreciate me for who I am.
“My career would be incomplete without mentioning the efforts my former boss made to help me become the complete musician I am today.
“He took me on board from Shamva and provided me with shelter, looking after me like a son.
“He trained me to be a dancer, choreographer, guitarist, and now a singer.”
Chisoni also denounces gender-based violence on the track “Mhirizhonga.”
“A good society is one where we learn to shun domestic violence at all times. By rejecting violence, we are not only doing a favour to ourselves but also building a better society that can be cherished for years,” he said.
