Exhibitors at the ongoing Zimbabwe Agricultural Show in Harare have expressed their optimism about this year’s exhibition, saying it gives them a chance to unlock new business synergies and networking opportunities.

The 113th Zimbabwe Agriculture Show started on Monday with more than 400 exhibitors including foreign exhibitors from Democratic Republic of Congo, European Union, China, South Africa and Malawi participating. A local exhibitor, Mr Takavada Svova, an operations and productions manager at Nhema Chickens, said the show was a learning platform for them.

“We always participate at the national agricultural show and this year we are showcasing our chicken breeds. Our aim is to enlarge our market” he said.

Another exhibitor Mr Zvikomborero Mwatenga, a technical manager of Zvikomborero Farms said: “Showcasing is the cheapest way of advertising our products. A good number of people have been visiting our stand since the beginning of the show and we are having business opportunities and also learning from others.”

The stands of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, the Zimbabwe Republic Police and ZimParks were some of the popular stands yesterday as people enjoyed learning about different types of firearms and fascinating with nature.

This year’s show is running under the theme: “Sustained growth. Adaptation. Productivity and Linkages.” And it offers unique business and networking opportunities through exhibitions and conferences.

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga addressed the annual national agri-business forum while the mining and agriculture breakfast interface which brings together those in the mining and agriculture value chains to dialogue, network and deepen synergies between the two sectors was held yesterday.

Activities also include a schools rugby tournament as well as a food and security business breakfast meeting to give executives, captains of industry and Government officials an opportunity to network and come up with solutions to production challenges.

The high school’s rugby tournament, dubbed the Presidents Schools Rugby Cup, has 12 participating teams from Monday to Friday.

Other arena events include a programme for musicians and fireworks on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Parachute dives, mass displays and horse riding are also among many other exciting events to entertain the crowd.
