Exhumation not because of ‘talking grave’

Sunday Life Reporter
THE family that exhumed the remains of a relative from a Kwekwe recently for reburial has said it is not true that the exhumation was prompted by voices from the grave.

Unnamed local people had told the media that the exhumation was because of voices from the grave, but family members last week told this publication that the exhumation was a family matter.

Graves

“There is no truth in that the grave was talking or there were voices from the grave. The exhumation was a family matter that was done according to the law with permission given by authorities,” said a family member.

The family exhumed the remains for reburial in Chipinge, 22 years after burial. The man, according to records, was buried at the cemetery in October 1999. Local councillor for Amaveni, Charles Juta told NewZiama: “This is a family process. They applied to exhume the body of their relative for re-burial in Manicaland, Chipinge. The deceased was buried here in October 1999.”
