Zimbabwe will receive normal to above normal rainfall for the 2013/2014 farming season, signalling a good farming season, regional climate experts have said.This was said yesterday at the close of the Southern Africa Regional Climate Outlook Forum (SARCOF) in Harare.
“The seasonal forecast has been issued for the region and indications are that there is going to be normal to above normal season for Zimbabwe which means that it is going to be a good rainy season.
“Normal to above normal means that for the areas in the Southern parts of the country where there is always less rain, normal to above normal means if they were using short varieties they should actually stick to that,” Zimbabwe’s Acting Meteorological Services Director Mr Elliot Bungare said.
“This particular forecast does not indicate the date of the onset of the rainfall season… We will issue a national forecast next week, that will determine what will actually be happening in the three farming regions in the country,” said Mr Elliot Bungare Acting Meteorological Services Director.
