New sungura out fit, Extra Kwazvose has failed to secure funds to complete shooting a DVD for their debut album “Ndizvo Zviripo”.
The videos were supposed to be released in November but the new group does not have enough money to complete the project.Only two songs, “Gurajena” and “Amen” were done with the videos uploaded on YouTube.
John Murira, the group manager said they have failed to secure enough money for the videos.
“It has not been easy because we have been working on paying for the PA system we acquired recently,” said Murira.
He added that they had failed to do outdoor videos for their two songs because of lack of resources.
“We have been receiving mixed feelings from our fans concerning the two songs, but people should understand that we have financial challenges.”
Though the group has been attracting fair crowds in and outside Harare, they are looking forward to finishing their project next year.
Murira said they will be focusing on a new album in addition to doing videos.
“It must be released next year in March, so we have since started working on the project,” said Murira.
It has emerged “The Rebels” as the group is fondly known is rushing towards releasing their new project eyeing the same month for the release with their former boss Alick Macheso. Sources say “The Rebels” got confidence from the dominance they are currently enjoying over Macheso with their debut album “Ndizvo Zviripo”.
Macheso’s album “Kwatakabva Mitunhu (Kure Kwekure)” has failed to meet the standards set by his previous releases.
According to sources, “The Rebels” want to directly challenge their former leader in his territory, but the band always refutes allegations that they want to compete against Macheso.
Murira was quick to dismiss the assertion that they were rushing against their former boss.
