IN a heartfelt tribute, South Africa-based musician “Ezebhubesi”, real name Brian Sibanda, has composed a song dedicated to the youthful Chief Dakamela of Nkayi, Matabeleland North, capturing the essence of his leadership and cultural pride.

The track, titled Chief uDakamela, features on Ezebhubesi’s forthcoming album Amankengane.

The song celebrates Chief Dakamela’s dedication to his community and his aspiration to inspire future generations. With engaging lyrics and a fusion of Maskandi rhythms, the track conveys deep respect and admiration for a leader, who exemplifies wisdom and hope.

“I had the opportunity to spend time with Chief Dakamela, and he shared a great deal with me, including his mission to fulfil his late father’s vision for the Ndebele people and their culture.

“I decided to compose a song in his honour, recognising him as one of the youngest and most visionary chiefs in our community. I’m grateful to Ibutho, who features on the track and helped make it even more captivating,” said Ezebhubesi.

Looking ahead to his album launch, scheduled for July 26 at Joburg Theatre in South Africa, Ezebhubesi revealed that the 12-track project offers a vibrant blend of genres, ranging from Gospel to Maskandi and Afro-pop.

The multi-talented artiste emphasised that the launch will be more than a musical event; it will be a cultural movement centred on preservation and artistic growth.

“The themes explored in Amankengane, as well as the atmosphere planned for the launch, are intended to educate and inspire the next generation about their roots and heritage. Through rhythm and melody, I believe the essence of African culture can be both celebrated and preserved.

“This diverse mix of genres reflects my artistic evolution and is designed to appeal to a wider audience. Music is universal, and each song offers a unique flavour, allowing listeners to connect in their own way,” he said.

Ezebhubesi invited all Zimbabwean music lovers based in South Africa to attend the album launch, which promises to be a major cultural event.

“The launch will be a celebration of traditional and contemporary sounds, enhanced by electrifying live performances that will both entertain and inspire.

“I collaborated with young talent for this event because I believe their fresh perspective enriches the experience. It’s part of my mission to highlight Bulawayo’s emerging stars within the broader African music scene,” said Ezebhubesi.
