The Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (Zaoga) has plunged into mourning after the only son of their leader passed away following a swimming accident where he almost drowned on Christmas Day.

He died two days later after battling for his life in the intensive care unit (ICU) at a hospital in South Africa.

In a press release by the Zaoga FIFas acting secretary-general Reverend Misheck Nyambo confirmed the incident advising members of the church and other interested parties to stay in their provinces while they worked out the logistics.

a?It is with great sorrow that I inform you of the passing on of Evangelist Ezekiel Guti Junior this morning (Wednesday).

a?In the meanwhile, please do not travel to Harare for the funeral, but remain in your provinces and nations as we put the logistics into place. We are hoping the burial will take place in January 2018 just after the 10 days,a? he said.
Guti Jr was in South Africa for the holidays with his family.

He is survived by his wife Caroline and three children.

Reports indicate that Guti Jr had instructed a guard to disconnect drainage pipes from the swimming pool when the accident happened.

The guard reportedly called out for help when he saw Guti Jr drowning and one Dube, who is believed to be the driver, quickly rescued him from the pool, but he was already foaming and rolling his eyes.

He was rushed to hospital and was battling for his life in the ICU until the time of his death.

The now deceased Dr Ezekiel Guti Junior is the author of a book titled The Man Who Defied Condition.

He was known for his brave approach to his physical disability and speech impediment as he continued to live a normal life.
