BULAWAYO-based musician Fab G Mshanakagogo is set to represent Matabeleland on the national stage when he performs at the National Arts Merit Awards (Namas) later this month.

The awards ceremony, scheduled for February 28 at the Harare International Conference Centre, will run under the theme “Fearless Creativity”, celebrating Zimbabwe’s finest artistic talent through a mix of established icons and emerging voices.

Fab G of the Imali Yesgweja fame will join gospel acts Minister Ellard, Sharon Cherayi and Vabati VaJehova on stage. Also billed to perform are Freeman, BaShupi, Junior Spragga, Bling4, Baba Harare, Plaxedes Wenyika, Skhu and Dino Mudondo.

In an interview, Fab G said making his Nama performance debut is an honour that he does not take lightly.
“It’s my first time performing at the Namas and I’m excited and proud to represent Bulawayo on the national stage. I believe our unique sound adds to the diversity of Zimbabwean music and my brand is about authenticity and connecting with people, so this platform is a perfect fit,” he said.

Riding on the success of last year’s hit Imali Yesgweja song, the artiste said fans should expect fresh music and collaborations.

“I’m working on new tracks and exciting collaborations, and I’ll also revisit some older projects that can now reach a bigger audience. There’s a lot more coming,” he said.

Following a rigorous adjudication process from a record 1 117 submissions, covering works produced between December 1, 2024, and November 30, 2025, the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe has curated a diverse performance line-up. —@mthabisi_mthire
