THE Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) has warned examination facilitators against leaking question papers. In a statement yesterday, Zimsec director Mr Esau Nhandara said examination facilitators and centres which leak papers risk being de-registered in conducting public examinations.
He said facilitators would also be arrested if they are found to have participated in any examination scam.
“Facilitators of examinations are charged and centres could be de-registered if there is evidence of contributing to leakages of question papers or malpractice,” said Mr Nhandara.
He urged examination facilitators to follow procedures on the correct conduct of examinations.
His comments come as candidates have started writing their November Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations.
On Tuesday last week, O-Level candidates started writing practical examinations and on Monday A-Level candidates wrote Literature in English and Business Studies.
The O-Level examinations will be ending on 18 November while A-Level ones will end on 20 November. This year examinations saw an increase in candidates in both O and A-Level candidates.
The A-Level November examination candidates shot up from 37 531 in 2012 to 40 474 and O-Level rose from 286 343 to 309 000. Zimsec has remained among the top examination boards on the continent and the world despite accusations of maladministration and various other challenges it is facing.
